Purpose

The Planning Board is an independent body comprised of seven members appointed by the Town Board. The Board’s review powers are conferred, and also limited, by statutory framework of state laws and the Town’s Zoning Ordinance. The main function of this board is to approve, encourage, promote and support development within the town. This is done while ensuring that our rich farming and rural heritage is not set aside. Another responsibility is to act in an advisory capacity for the Town Board on a variety of issues. Ongoing duties of the Planning Board include review of special use permit and site plan applications.
